What is CranioSacral Therapy (CST)?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) was developed in the late 1970's by Dr. John Upledger, an osteopathic physician, and is based on osteopathic, integrative medicine principles. Dr. John, as he was affectionately called, established the Upledger Instiute International which has trained thousands of CST therapists throughout the world. This organization has also developed many wonderful educational materials to help folks understand exactly what CST is, because, unfortunately, this treatment modality is unfamiliar to many. Since I didn't think I could improve on their eloquent synopis of CST, I have provided it for you below:

"CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physicological body system which is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal core (the central nervous system). By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CST naturally reduces pain and stress, strenghtens one's resistance to disease, and enhances health and well-being. CST helps allign the body structurally and facilitiates the bodily systems to work properly. And because it's so gentle and noninvasive, CranioSacral Therapy has proven effective for all ages, from "newborns to elders."
